Waddesdon Manor

First things first: Happy New Year! I hope everyone has had a lovely Christmas and welcomed in the New Year with friends and family. How it’s 2016 already, I don’t even know, but for the last two months it’s been pretty full on trying to get everything sorted for our move, finishing work and packing for snowboarding in Austria, Christmas and moving house.

I’m happy to say that we’re all moved and settled in now and back at work! For the past couple of months there’s not really been a free weekend to go exploring or have any time out, not even mentioning the neglect this little space has suffered. Hopefully that’s all going to change now…

It might not surprise you then that these photos were taken back in October, between Paul’s, my mum’s and my birthday. Paul and I met my parents at Waddesdon Manor for a day out to celebrate the three of our birthdays and although it was a pretty rainy day, it was nice to get out somewhere new and have some quality time with my mum and dad.

From the car park, Paul and I hopped onto a designated bus, which drove us through the impressive grounds to the top of the long driveway leading to the Manor House. We checked out the Gift Shop whilst waiting for my mum and dad and once they’d arrived, we took a stroll through the rainy gardens awaiting our time slot to view the House.

The House was as impressive as the grounds, with so much history and personal possessions of the Rothschilds who owned the house. It’s incredible to imagine how people used to live in such huge houses with such opulent rooms, like the real life Downton Abbey!

We stopped off for some lunch in the Stable Cafe before stocking up on some homemade fudge and retro sweets in the sweet shop before calling it a day.

Now that we have our weekends back, I’m looking forward to getting out and about as well as maybe planning a trip or two abroad…
