Sunny warm days are fast becoming history with the autumnal weather taking over, but memories of the summer are still fresh in my mind. Like this trip to the Colosseum at the beginning of my Italian adventure.
A highlight of Rome had to be the Colosseum. A 2000 year old grand structure with so much history and clever architecture was pretty amazing to see. I’ve been to Rome once as a child, but my memories are faint so it was nice to revisit and experience it properly.
This was the only place we decided to go on a guided tour, as it had been recommended by a few friends. Without one, you can’t get right to the top of the Colosseum to the third tier, which has the best views or right to the bottom, underneath the arena floor where the animals and gladiators waited before the shows. A recommendation I’m passing on to anyone who might be visiting Rome! ;-)
