This is the last instalment of my postcards from Italy. Sorrento was the last town we stayed in on our trip before heading back to Rome for one more night before catching an early morning flight home. It was by far the busiest and most obviously tourist place we stayed, but pretty all the same. We took a few day trips from here – to Naples for an afternoon and a day trip to Pompeii.
Sorrento is in a good location to travel to other places on the Amalfi Coast and it was good to experience the buzz of a busier Italian town apart from Rome. I loved all of the colourfully painted buildings and the main Piazza (Piazza Tasso) was buzzing all day and night. There are a couple of restaurants on the Piazza where you can sit and watch the world go by like the Fauna Bar (I would recommend the ice coffee).
Sorrento is a lovely place, but maybe we should have made it our first stop on the Amalfi Coast as we left our hearts in Positano the minute we left – definitely one of my favourite places in the world so far.
All in all, it was a such a lovely holiday that I won’t be forgetting about any time soon!
