On Sunday, I was invited along to a crafternoon hosted by Hillarys at Drink Shop Do in Kings Cross to make a jewellery box using fabrics from their new Jewel range. I like a DIY and since I’ve been to Drink Shop Do before for my friend’s hen do, I was intrigued to see what sort of jewellery box we would be making.
As soon as I got there, I was greeted with tea and a huge piece of Red Velvet cake, not something I can say no to! ;-) After taking in the instagrammable surroundings of Drink Shop Do and the mood boards of the Jewel range, we got introduced to two ladies from The Crafty Hen and got started on our jewellery boxes. We had a choice of fabrics from the Jewel range to cover our boxes as well as ribbons and buttons to embellish. Next we made an insert to create compartments and then using fabric and wadding, we made ring rolls to fill one of the compartments.
I chose one of the more muted fabrics with soft florals and offset it with mint ribbon. I wanted to keep it quite modern so I didn’t choose to embellish it with any buttons. Once we’d finished with our jewellery boxes, we were able to make Suffolk Puff accessories, but let’s just say that mine didn’t work out quite as I would have liked…
I now have a little box to store all of my day to day jewellery to keep out of Dolly’s reach!
Thanks Hillarys, Drink Shop Do and The Crafty Hen for having us on Sunday and Joes Bloggers for organising.
