Every so often, we wake up early on a Saturday morning, get in the car and drive to a new place. Somewhere we’ve not been before or somewhere where one of us has and wants to show the other what it’s like. This particular day, neither of us had been to Bibury, but a quick Google search later, we were set on exploring one of the prettiest villages in the Cotswolds…
It was the first time in the Cotswolds for me, so Bibury was the perfect place to start. A quaint little village with beautiful cottages and a tourist attraction in the form of Arlington Row, a row of cottages built back in 1380, was like stepping into a film. I almost felt like I might see Harry Potter running around the village! I was not in luck, but the quick Google search revealed that a few films have in fact been filmed here and in the area: Stardust and Bridget Jones’s Diary.
It’s a picturesque setting and perfect for our day of wandering around and a spot of lunch at The Swan Hotel – they make a pretty good steak sandwich!
One day it might be nice to take a break and curl up in a cottage for a few days – like Cameron Diaz in The Holiday… wow, how did it end up all about films? Anyway, if you’re after a day out in a pretty setting, I would definitely recommend it.
